New year, new life

Lately I have been reading really interesting books. In all of them, it says there is something beyond our mind. Do you know what it is? Yes, it is our SOUL. It also says that you have to live NOW. I hope I could life NOW really soon, because I am feeling bad again and I really hate this sensation. When I began to think how it could be and I compare it to how it really is, everything turns to be sad and frustrating. But I must do something about it, so I decide to write here my purposes for this year: 1.- Studying again 2.- Leading a healthy life (make more sport and eating more healthy) 3.- to have my own place 4.- Be happy professionally and personally 5.- Spread love and wisdom I think that is all, more or less. I know some of them are really difficult to achieve, but, at least, one must try. I will do my best. This year, I suspect I will not be able to travel so much as last year. And that is a pity, because I love to see interesting places, meet beautiful people and enjoying what ...

Paris, je t'aime

Last bank holiday (for 1st of May) I spent 5 days in Paris. Just "Paris et moi", but it was amazing. Paris is really a city to get lost and enjoy yourself. Moreover when the weather is sunny and rather warm. And that, fortunately, was my case. An European capital and cosmopolitan city is ideal if you are travelling alone, because you hardly missed anybody (of course, sometimes I would have like to share thoughts and vivences with someone, but travelling alone is also a really good experience). I don't need much to enjoy myself. Breathtaking views, vibrant atmosphere, monumental buildings, huge museums and a sunny day (or at least without rain, please, because the sky in Paris was often cloudy). Eiffel tower, Louvre + Orsay + Pompidou Museums, Tuilleries gardens, Concorde square, Champs Elysées, Arche de Triomphe, Pantheon, Notre Dame, le Marais, Montmatre, etc. There is a place for everybody and for every moment in the french capital. A city that became popular from year ...

EARTHQUAKE IN "L'AQUILA" (THE EAGLE)

One month is gone and I have not write my composition yet. Like I said to Felicity last Thursday I would like to write something about an eagle. A beutiful story that I heard once in my philosophy lessons. Unhopefully I did not remember exactly how it was. So that must still wait. I just know I want to write something about "eagles", because this bird has been a symbol in many cultures and Empires. I think human beings has always admire this beautiful bird because he can flight very high and see whatever it occurs here in the earth. It had been nice when an eagle had warned us from this terrible earthquake in "L'Aquila". I was close to have been there for 2 weeks. In fact, a friend of mine is doing Erasmus there since last September. But don't suffer, she was here before this tragedy occurs. I read today that more than 200 people had died. This is horrible! I could not still understand how such a thing could still take place in a country like Italy, "th...

GAUDI

I am a fan of Guadí. Barcelona wasn't the same without his works. We have to thank him nearly all our tourists, (especially in the case of japanese tourists) and that Barcelona is internationally regarded as a modern cosmopolitan city. We have a big duty with him. I have seen all his works in Spain and they are great. My favourite is Sagrada Familia because I made my "Practicum" there as a trainee in tourist information department. I met really beautiful people (greetings for them too!! especially for Xose, Eva, Raquel, Miriam, Guille and Gerlac if they ever read this!). I will give you more information about this temple, which Gaudí began to built as "people's cathedral". Take care! Lydia --------------------------------- Antoni Gaudí i Cornet The church of the Sagrada Familia by Antonio Gaudí(1852-1926), is undoubtedly one of Barcelona's must-see landmarks. The unfinished masterpiece has become a symbol of this vibrant Spanish city, but we should not n...

CARNIVAL

Hi buddies! How are you? Hope everything is going fine. I left you here something interesting to read about. It's about Germany, about the region where is was living during 6 months (I know, it is not a great time, but better than nothing). Regretfully, I was never there for Carnival. I was on Notting Hill's Carnival in London on 2005 instead. Well, I hope ypu enjoy this article. Lots of love, Lydia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Karnevalszeit When you hear the word 'carnival' in the English-speaking world, it's probably more likely to be associated with Rio rather than with Germany. Yet in some German regions there are many customs and festivals associated with 'carnival'-and there are quite a few days off work. For many people, carnival is the one occasion in the year when they trul...

GLOBAL ENGLISH

Hi again! I just realize, I did not write anything last week. I am reading this "strange" book called "White teeth" and I think it will drive me crazy! It is a terrific story, but completely surrealistic! Ok, that is not mine, but I hope you find it worths to read about it. It is not really necessary to say, I prefer reading than writing (my better mark in English is usually reading comprehension). Take care! Lydia ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ English is spoken as a first language by more than 300 million people throughout the world, and used as a second language by many millions more. One in five of the world's population speaks English with a good level of competence, and within the next few years the number of people speaking English as a second language will exceed the number of native speakers. This could have a dramatic effect on the evolution of the language: in the process of being absor...
